What is accident and incident support from Mercury?

Mercury Support helps businesses record, manage and resolve workplace accidents and incidents. The Mercury Platform lets teams log incidents from any device, upload CCTV and photo evidence, track RIDDOR reportability and share complete case files with insurers through a secure link. Qualified compliance advisors are on hand to guide managers through what to do, what’s reportable and what to tell an insurer. Mercury Support works with some of the best-known names in UK hospitality, alongside healthcare, education and facilities businesses.

Why it matters

The claim arrives long after the mop and bucket

A slip takes seconds. The claim can arrive years later, and by then the CCTV is overwritten, the manager has moved on and the paperwork lives in a drawer. What you capture on the night decides how it ends.

Wet floor sign

Claims have a long memory

Personal injury claims can generally be brought up to three years after the incident. Your evidence has to outlive everyone's recollection of the night.

Directors carry personal duty

Health and safety law places duties on directors and senior managers personally, on top of the business. Missing records become your problem, by name.

RIDDOR deadlines are unforgiving

Some incidents must be reported to the HSE within strict timescales. Deciding what's reportable at midnight, alone, is where mistakes happen.

CCTV waits for no one

Most systems overwrite footage within days. Secure the recording immediately or your best evidence deletes itself.

HOW IT WORKS

A bad night, done right

A customer slips near the bar on a busy Saturday. Here’s how it runs with Mercury Support.

Log

Logged at the scene Platform

The incident goes into the platform from any device, while everyone's still there. Time, location, photos, witness details and CCTV, captured before memories fade and footage overwrites.

Call

An expert on the phone Our Team

One call, day or night, to someone who has run a floor themselves. What to say, what to check, whether this needs a RIDDOR report. The guidance gets logged on the case too.

Act

Actions generated in the platform Platform

A complete incident report with clear actions for the site, automatic alerts to the people who need to know, and RIDDOR status tracked on the case.

Close

Closed out, together Our Team

The case gets reviewed and closed with your team. And if a claim arrives months later, the whole file shares with your insurer as a single secure link: timeline, evidence, footage and reports.

In the platform

Capture everything while it's fresh

Logged from any device

Phone, tablet or desktop, at the scene or back office. Automatic alerts go to the right people the moment a case is opened.

CCTV EVIDENCE UPLOADS

Upload footage up to 1GB per file directly to the incident, with configurable retention and purging to match your data protection policy.

Share a case link, skip the email chain

Insurers and legal teams get the complete file through one secure link. Timeline, evidence, footage, reports. Cleaner evidence makes for easier conversations with insurers, and sometimes better premiums.

AI spots the patterns

The same slip in the same spot three times stops being bad luck. AI pattern detection flags recurring issues across sites so you fix causes, and it feeds trend reports on demand.

Common questions

Asked by operators

We live in a litigious world, and it expects certain things of you. Straight answers on the obligations that come up most; anything else, give us a ring.

What counts as a RIDDOR reportable incident?

RIDDOR requires employers to report certain work-related deaths, specified injuries, over-seven-day incapacitation, occupational diseases and dangerous occurrences to the HSE. Whether a specific incident is reportable depends on the circumstances, and our advisors help clients assess reportability and report correctly.

What are our legal duties after a workplace accident?

Make the area safe and get the injured person appropriate help, record the incident, report it to the HSE where RIDDOR applies, and preserve the evidence. Employers also owe ongoing duties to review what went wrong and prevent a repeat.

Who is liable when someone is injured on our premises?

The business owes duties to employees and to the public, and health and safety law also places duties on directors and senior managers personally. Liability in any specific case turns on what was foreseeable, what precautions were in place and what can be evidenced.

Why does evidence matter so much in food safety cases?

Because the burden of proof effectively runs in reverse. Food safety offences generally apply unless the business can show it took all reasonable precautions and exercised due diligence, so the defence rests on the records you kept before anything went wrong. That evidence trail is exactly what the Mercury Platform builds every day.

How long should incident records be kept?

Personal injury claims can generally be brought up to three years from the incident, and longer in some circumstances, so records and evidence should be kept at least that long, available for whenever an insurer, regulator or court asks.
